Wedding at the Pennsylvanian

A day at the pennsylvanian: Mara & mitchell

Mara & Mitchell’s wedding day was the perfect mix of timeless elegance, iconic Pittsburgh charm, and joyful celebration. From their romantic ceremony at Heinz Chapel to their unforgettable reception at The Pennsylvanian, every detail reflected who they are as a couple—and gave us so many stunning moments to capture.

A Ceremony at Heinz Chapel

The day began at one of Pittsburgh’s most iconic wedding ceremony venues: Heinz Memorial Chapel in Oakland. With its soaring stained-glass windows and historic architecture, Heinz Chapel provided the perfect backdrop as Mara walked down the aisle in her classic gown from Bridal Beginning. Her look was completed with natural, glowing makeup by LB Artistry and hair styled by Missy Mrazek Studio.

Mitchell looked sharp in his tailored suit from The Black Tux, and the couple exchanged vows surrounded by family, friends, and the incredible light pouring through the chapel windows.

Portraits Around the City

After the ceremony, we explored some of Pittsburgh’s best wedding photo locations. Of course, we couldn’t resist capturing classic Pittsburgh wedding portraits on the yellow bridges—a must for couples who love this city. The deep blue tones of their wedding palette paired beautifully with the greenery of downtown, giving us portraits that felt both modern and timeless.

Reception at The Pennsylvanian

When it comes to Pittsburgh wedding venues, it’s hard to beat The Pennsylvanian. With its grand rotunda, historic details, and stunning natural light, it’s a dream space for a celebration. The reception décor combined soft blue accents with lush greenery, creating an elegant yet fresh feel.

Guests danced the night away thanks to music from DJ Joe Costa, and enjoyed a delicious wedding cake from Scoops in Bellevue. The evening sparkled with details like Mara’s timeless jewelry from Henne Jewelers, and every moment felt uniquely theirs.

Why We Love Weddings at The Pennsylvanian

As a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, I’m always thrilled when couples choose The Pennsylvanian for their reception. The venue offers endless opportunities for photos, from the breathtaking rotunda to the dramatic city backdrops just steps outside. Pairing Heinz Chapel with The Pennsylvanian is a classic Pittsburgh wedding combination that never goes out of style.

Final Thoughts

Mara & Mitchell’s wedding day was everything a Pittsburgh celebration should be—romantic, timeless, and full of joy. From Heinz Chapel to The Pennsylvanian, every detail told their story, and I feel so lucky to have captured it.
