Paris Trip | Summer 2018
Summer in Paris | 2018
As most of you know, I left my office job this past spring so that I could focus on my business 100%! I don’t like to say I went ‘full-time’, because I was definitely already putting in full time hours running this biz. Because I was working two full-time jobs, I missed out on a lot of social activities, and had to put things like vacation on hold. The last trip Jon (my hubby) and I took was our honeymoon in 2013 (yes - five years ago). So it was long overdue.
One of the promises I made to myself and to my husband when I left the office was to make time for us, and to make time to travel. Jon had never been overseas before, so while we saved up so that I could leave, I told him to pick his top city in the world to visit. That day we bought plane tickets to Paris.
The tickets were for June, and we bought them in January - so we had time to get excited. By the time we made it, we were ecstatic! We got off the plane, took the train into the city, and immediately got drenched by a downpour.
Then we got lost.
Luckily, that was the worst part of the trip. Once we found our airbnb (5 min walk from the Louvre), we were home. That week was incredible, and now Jon has the travel bug along with me.
Since we’re headed to our next destination on Friday, I figured it was time to share a few pictures from the trip! Make sure you follow along on my Instagram for real time updates!

We went to the Eiffel tower quite a few times. Including to photograph a couples shoot that will be up on the blog this winter!

We didn’t go to a show, but we had to walk by. Our wedding song was from the movie Moulin Rouge. <3

So so so many steps to hike up.

But the view was worth it!

We stayed near a small grocery store and had one meal a day at home (always with french bread, cheese & wine!)

I LOVE traveling. It is a core part of my identity. So when Polina asked if I’d come down to Charleston for their engagements, of course I said yes! It ended up being my daughter’s first flight at 3 months old as well, so we really had an adventure. I can’t wait to celebrate with these two on their wedding day.
We drove all the way down to Coopers Rock State Forest in West Virginia to find the perfect cliff-top view for Karah & Ian’s engagement session. Together, we hiked out to the edge and watched the sunset over the mountains. By the time we finished, we had to hike half the trail in the dark! Good thing we brought flashlights just in case.
San Diego Trip | April 2019
This spring I had the opportunity to travel out to California to capture one of my couple’s engagement sessions. We ended up doing two shoots, one on the beaches of San Diego, and one in Alabama Hills & Mt. Whitney. Both were amazing of course!
For this trip, my mom tagged along as my travel buddy and occasional lighting assistant. You may remember that we traveled together out west last year, when we went to Las Vegas, Red Rock, Valley of Fire, and Death Valley. It seems like this trip out west may become an annual thing!
Colorado Trip | February 2019
Many of you know that I headed out to Denver to capture an adventurous engagement session up in the Rocky Mountains! I spent a weekend there exploring all around the area.
The first night I went up into the national park to scout where our session would be. Since I was exploring alone, I didn’t hike any of the trails, but it was still amazing to watch the sun set, and grab a few selfies along the way.
Alabama Hills & Mt. Whitney Engagement | Rachel & Ryan
This is part two of this gorgeous couple’s engagement session. The first half took place on a beach in San Diego. For this sunrise session, we drove 5 hour outside of the city to capture the majesty of the mountains.
Rachel & Ryan were incredible to work with. Let’s just start off by saying this is only part 1 of this session. Day 2 was all about the desert and the mountains! Be on the lookout next week.
We started at Torrey Pines overlooking the beach, taking advantage of the cliffs views. We then made the absolutely crazy & exhilarating hike down to the beach access, which included a pass through a small slot canyon, and using a rope to navigate a particularly steep rock face. I may have been covered head to toe in dirt by the end, but I had a smile on my face.
Iceland Trip | January 2019
As many of you know, Jon and I went to Iceland in December, exploring the southern coast and trying (and failing) to see the Northern Lights. Since seeing the lights is a bucket list item for me, I wasn’t content to miss out. As soon as our flight landed in Pittsburgh, I was already planning on the next trip.
Bahamas Trip | Winter 2019
My hubby was given the opportunity to go to the Bahamas this winter for his job, and of course I tagged along. Who could turn down a chance to spend four days soaking up the sun!?
We had mild weather (in the 70s most days), with one very rainy evening. The cooler temps didn’t prevent me from laying out on the beach or taking in a few water slides! It was in the 20s back in Pittsburgh, so this felt like heaven.
In March I headed up to New York City for a photography workshop with a few other amazing Pittsburgh photographers. Believe it or not, this was my first time in NYC! We only had about a day to tour around, so we missed a lot of touristy things, but I plan on going back for sure. Luckily we had time to walk the Brooklyn Bridge, enjoy a nice dinner out, and take in a broadway show (Chicago!).

You all know how I LOVE to travel. While Covid put a damper on things for a while, now that the whole family is vaccinated, I was so ready to get back at it! We kicked it off in a big way with a week long vacation to capture Sam & Curt’s wedding in Salt Lake! It is such a gorgeous city surrounded by mountains.
These two celebrated with friends and family on the wedding day. Included were special touches with paintings and more. The day after, we adventured into the mountains to grab portraits of the two of them.
